THE “”COOL JESUS”” OF THE END-TIME CHURCH
a Sneak Peak into the Soon to be released New eBook of Pastor Dirk of TruLight Ministries
CHAPTER 1 – The Watered-Down Jesus:

How Modern Church Doctrines Align with the Occult.
The contemporary religious landscape is witnessing a profound crisis of identity. For centuries, the Jesus of the Bible stood as an unyielding cornerstone—a figure of absolute truth, divine justice, and exclusive salvation. Today, however, critics and theologians alike argue that the mainstream church has systematically diluted His character. This phenomenon has accelerated to the point where even practitioners of witchcraft and modern satanism find the watered-down iterations of Christ acceptable, comfortable, and entirely non-threatening.
When the historical and biblical requirements of repentance, holiness, and submission to divine law are stripped away, what remains is an inclusive, generic symbol of tolerance. This eBook explores how various “doctrines of demons” have distorted the biblical Christ and identifies exactly which versions of this altered Jesus are being embraced by the occult world.
The Mechanism of Dilution: Doctrines of Demons
The watering down of Jesus is not an accident; it is the direct result of theological shifts that replace biblical orthodoxy with humanistic philosophies. According to discerning watchmen and platforms like Sheriff of the Church, the modern religious landscape is plagued by dozens of false doctrines—frequently termed “doctrines of demons”—each presenting a tailored, inaccurate version of Christ.
These distortions span across multiple movements:
- The 3rd Way and LGBTQI+ Affirming Churches: These groups redefine Jesus exclusively through the lens of modern secular tolerance. In this framework, Christ’s message of unconditional love is twisted into an unconditional endorsement of identity and behavior, completely omitting biblical mandates regarding human sexuality, sin, and sanctification.
- Hyper-Grace Movements: This doctrine presents a Jesus who has swept away all moral obligations and divine laws. By preaching an extreme version of grace that requires no ongoing repentance or accountability, they market a Jesus who functions as a perpetual pass for carnal living.
- The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) and Kingdom Now Theology: Here, Jesus is reduced to a cosmic facilitator of personal empowerment, political dominion, and signs and wonders. This shifts the focus from Christ’s substitutionary atonement and the call to take up one’s cross, turning Him instead into a blueprint for human sovereignty and earthly control.
- The Prosperity Gospel: This theology transforms the Lord of Glory into a celestial ATM or a motivational life coach. The Jesus of the prosperity gospel exists primarily to serve human ambition, guarantee material wealth, and eliminate physical suffering, completely abandoning the biblical reality of Christian suffering and self-denial.
Which “Watered-Down” Jesus Do Witches Accept?
When occult practitioners, witches, and esoteric spiritualists state that they accept or respect Jesus, they are explicitly rejecting the sovereign, triune God of the Bible. Instead, they warmly embrace the specific distortions generated by these modern church movements. The watered-down versions of Jesus that find total acceptance in the occult world generally fall into three distinct profiles:
1. Jesus the “Ascended Master” or Enlightened Guru
In New Age, occult, and witchcraft circles, Jesus is frequently stripped of His unique deity and redefined as merely one of many “Ascended Masters”—alongside figures like Buddha, Krishna, or Thoth.
- The Deception: Witches readily accept a Jesus who is an elder brother or a highly evolved spiritual guide who tapped into the “Christ Consciousness.”
- The Alignment: This version directly mirrors the New Apostolic Reformation and Word of Faith teachings, which claim that Jesus operated on earth purely as a man in right relationship with God, implying that any believer can attain the exact same level of divinity and miraculous power.
2. The Universalist Jesus of Unconditional Tolerance
Witchcraft, particularly modern Wicca, operates on principles of personal autonomy (“An it harm none, do what ye will”). Therefore, any religious figure who commands total submission or warns of eternal judgment is strictly rejected.
- The Deception: Witches easily embrace a Jesus who is a peaceful, anti-establishment rebel who strictly preached love, inclusion, and kindness without ever mentioning sin, hell, or repentance.
- The Alignment: This profile is a direct export of 3rd Way Affirming Churches and Hyper-Grace doctrines. When the church removes the fear of the Lord and the reality of divine judgment, Jesus becomes an inclusive mascot for secular ethics—a figure who demands nothing and affirms everything.
3. Jesus the Magician or Cosmic Manifestor
Occult practices are deeply rooted in manipulating spiritual laws to alter physical reality (manifestation, spellcraft, and esoteric decrees).
- The Deception: A Jesus who validates the human ego and teaches that words possess inherent creative power to shape destiny is highly appealing to the occult mind.
- The Alignment: This version is popularized by the Decree and Declare Movement and Prosperity Gospel churches. When pastors teach that believers can “command the atmosphere” or “decree wealth into existence” using formulas, they are teaching a system indistinguishable from high magic. Witches recognize this synergy and comfortably accept a Jesus who acts as the ultimate master of manifestation.
The Ultimate Consequence: A Lawless Unity
The proliferation of these false christs has created a dangerous bridge between the compromised church and the secular, occult world. When the church preaches a Jesus without the Law, a Jesus without judgment, and a Jesus who serves human desires, it creates a deity that requires no conversion to follow.
As a result, a witch or satanic priest does not need to abandon their occult practices to accept this version of Christ; the modern church has altered Him sufficiently to fit neatly within their pluralistic, pantheistic worldview. This serves as a stark warning to true believers: a Jesus who is acceptable to the world and the occult is not the Jesus of Nazareth found in the Holy Scriptures.
Countering Modern Doctrinal Distortions: A Biblical Blueprint
The theological erosion seen in modern “doctrines of demons” is not a surprise to those grounded in scripture. The New Testament explicitly warns that a time would come when people would reject sound doctrine in favor of teachings that suit their own desires. To combat the watered-down versions of Christ circulating in the modern church—and embraced by secular and occult circles alike—we must look directly at the primary biblical passages that expose and dismantle these distortions.
Here is how the true, biblical Jesus and the apostolic witness completely refute the most prominent modern theological errors.
1. Refuting the 3rd Way & Hyper-Grace: The True Standard of Holiness
Modern movements often present a Jesus who is entirely permissive, offering a grace that demands no lifestyle change, no repentance, and no adherence to God’s moral law. They isolate verses about love while ignoring Christ’s calls to absolute holiness.
- The Biblical Counter: Titus 2:11–12 explicitly outlines the true function of grace: “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” True grace is not a license to continue in sin; it is the supernatural empowerment to overcome it.
- The Words of Jesus: In Luke 13:3, Jesus directly shatters the idea of universal acceptance without personal transformation: “I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” Furthermore, in John 8:11, after showing immense mercy to the woman caught in adultery, His parting command was unambiguous: “Go now and sin no more.” The biblical Jesus couples infinite mercy with an unyielding command to turn away from lawlessness.
2. Refuting the Prosperity Gospel: The Call to Self-Denial
The prosperity movement reimagines Jesus as a celestial promoter of material wealth, physical ease, and worldly success. It turns the gospel into a transactional contract where faith is measured by earthly riches.
- The Biblical Counter: 1 Timothy 6:9–10 delivers a severe warning against the foundational desire of the prosperity message: “Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”
- The Words of Jesus: Christ did not promise physical luxury; He promised hardship, sacrifice, and eternal reward. In Matthew 16:24, He laid down the true cost of discipleship: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” A cross is an instrument of death to self, not a vehicle for material advancement. Jesus explicitly warned in Luke 12:15, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
3. Refuting NAR & “Kingdom Now” Elitism: Sovereignty Belongs to Christ Alone
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) and Kingdom Now movements often distort the gospel by elevating human authority. They preach that believers must seize control of earthly structures (the “Seven Mountain Mandate”) to establish the Kingdom before Christ can return, and they frequently reduce Jesus to a template for human godhood or esoteric manifestation formulas.
- The Biblical Counter: Colossians 1:16–18 restores the correct hierarchy, placing all supremacy firmly back onto Christ rather than human leaders: “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him… so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”
- The Words of Jesus: When questioned about His political and earthly intentions, Jesus directly contradicted the dominionist mindset. In John 18:36, He stated plainly: “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” The true Church is called to be witnesses and ambassadors, making disciples of all nations, rather than executing human-led political domination.
The Ultimate Diagnostic: Galatians 1:8–9
The apostles knew that human nature would always attempt to reshape Jesus into a more palatable, culturally convenient image. To protect the church from these exact deviations, the Apostle Paul left an uncompromising barrier in Galatians 1:8:
“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!”
Any doctrine that strips Jesus of His role as the Righteous Judge, removes the necessity of repentance, or subverts His supreme authority is, by biblical definition, a false gospel. True spiritual discernment requires testing every sermon, book, and church movement against the unchanging standard of the written Word of God.
The Architecture of Deception: Biblical Warnings on End-Times False Apostles
The Bible does not merely hint at the appearance of false spiritual leaders in the last days; it treats their arrival as an absolute mathematical certainty. Scripture repeatedly warns that the closing chapters of human history will be defined by an unprecedented wave of spiritual deception coming from inside the visible church.
These warnings provide a precise diagnostic blueprint to help believers identify, expose, and reject the counterfeit ministers, prophets, and apostles who distort the gospel for personal gain, power, or cultural validation.
1. The Strategy: Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing
The most dangerous attribute of end-times false prophets is their appearance. They do not enter the church openly declaring allegiance to the occult or paganism; they arrive carrying Bibles, using Christian terminology, and projecting an aura of profound righteousness.
- The Apostolic Warning (2 Corinthians 11:13–15): The Apostle Paul explicitly unmasks the mechanics of this deception: “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.”
- The Warnings of Jesus (Matthew 7:15): Christ provided the ultimate visual analogy for these covert operators: “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” They look like part of the flock, but their hidden intent is predatory consumption—destroying souls and exploiting the vulnerable.
2. The Method: Miracles, Signs, and Flattery
End-times false prophets will not rely solely on persuasive speech; they will operate with genuine, supernatural spiritual power designed to bypass human intellect and target emotionalism.
- The Warnings of Jesus (Matthew 24:24): In His olivet discourse concerning the end of the age, Jesus dropped a chilling warning: “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” The presence of a miracle, a supernatural manifestation, or a physical healing is never the ultimate proof of a minister’s alignment with God.
- The Doctrinal Method (2 Peter 2:1–3): Peter explains how these teachers introduce their errors: “They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them… In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories.” They use flattery, manufactured testimonies, and psychological manipulation to monetize their followers.
3. The Target: Itching Ears and Lawlessness
False prophets only succeed because there is a marketplace for their lies. The Bible reveals that the spiritual climate of the end times will involve a massive, collective rejection of objective truth in favor of subjective, comfortable experiences.
- The Apostolic Warning (2 Timothy 4:3–4): Paul writes to Timothy about the cultural shift within the visible assembly: “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
- The Warning of Judgement (Matthew 7:21–23): Jesus describes a terrifying scene at the final judgment involving highly active, charismatic leaders who assumed they were serving Him: “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers [workers of lawlessness]!’” Notice that Jesus does not deny their miracles; He denies them because they operated outside the boundary of His moral law.
The Standard of Defense: Fruits and Doctrinal Testing
To insulate oneself from the toxic influence of modern false apostles, scripture demands that believers move past outward charismatic charm and enforce two strict tests:
- The Test of Fruit (Matthew 7:16–20): “By their fruit you will recognize them… A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.” This fruit is not the size of their church, the number of their views, or the wealth they display. It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit—humility, holiness, integrity, and absolute fidelity to the cross.
- The Test of Doctrine (1 John 4:1): “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” If a prophet or apostle delivers a word that contradicts the written scriptures, minimizes sin, redefines the biblical Christ, or glorifies man over God, they are to be instantly marked and avoided.
But the Real Jesus, did say this will happen as Signs of the Times of the End times.
Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
