a Word from the Sheriff for Sept 2025

The Use of Ai in the Good news Gospel

There is a saying attributed to Einstein which states, “the innovations of man will be the downfall of the world.” Another saying attributed to Einstein is, “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction.” And though there is no evidence that Einstein actually said this, the statements does carry some weight.

With the ever-increasing use of artificial intelligence, I can see how the innovations of man will lead to the downfall of relationships, not just with those around us, but also with the Lord.

Now I don’t want to ban the use of artificial intelligence because we at TruLight Ministries used Ai Voice overs to generate our 3 Radio Drama Plays because of the cost effectiveness of Ai, but when a worship leader turns to artificial intelligence to find out what praise and worship is rather than to turn to God’s Word and the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit, there is a real cause for concern. Just so, when a preacher solely relies on artificial intelligence, and more so using it to study topics that will sooth the audiences’ ears, we should really be concerned.

Now let me be the first to admit that I have used artificial intelligence in lieu of a concordance, to find scriptures on a theme or a subject. I did however realize that by doing this, I am allowing myself to be lured into the web of artificial intelligence where my dependence on God’s Holy Spirit and His Word may eventually fade away.
So, is it completely wrong to use artificial intelligence? If it is wrong, wouldn’t it be wrong to re-use, recycle or repurpose somebody else’s sermon or wouldn’t it be wrong to use commentaries?

Well, here is my view. When preparing a message or sermon we need to make time for earnest prayer, seeking God’s guidance through His Holy Spirit. When the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. (See John 16:13) Like Jesus told his disciples, “the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say” (Luke 12:12) As a sidenote, always bear in mind that God’s Holy Spirit may use something you recently heard or read to guide you in a certain direction. We also need to turn to the Word of God, inspired by God as per 2 Timothy 3:16 since the Word remains Gods ultimate revelation of who He is and what He is capable of doing.

Only, after receiving from the Lord, we may use technology to assist in preparing a message or sermon. We can use E-sword, Google or even artificial intelligence to find a scripture, much like we used a hard-copy concordance. Just so we can get illustrations or quotes by others on the subject.

But we must be cautious, not to make artificial intelligence or technology our source. That would be idolatry. Let us remain reliant on God’s Holy Spirit, be students of the Word, and seek God’s face in true humility and prayer.

Let us remain dependent on the Lord, turn our heads and our hearts towards him, and trust Him to be our source.

Wel, hier is my siening.
